Our Goal

     Apakoa Rivers aim is to put on the best Desolation Canyon Wilderness whitewater trips around.  The Green River through Desolation Canyon was recently named a Wild and Scenic river, a fitting designation for one of the most remote and beautiful places in the country.  We can’t take any credit for the wonders of the Green River, but we feel that what makes a truly great river trip (in addition to a magical river) is great guides.  You will find that the guides in Apakoa Rivers crew are unique and incredibly fun, experienced professionals – truly great individuals and guides.   We are fastidious about planning, and focusing on the details before, during and after your trip to ensure the most seamless and memorable experience for you. We are thrilled to have you as our guests in an exceptional place that we feel lucky to regard as a second home.​

Our Story

      Apakoa Rivers was created in 2020 when Sarah Hammond purchased the Green river division of Dvorak Expeditions.  Sarah has been guiding for Bill and Jaci Dvorak since 2002 and continues to love sharing wild rivers with others.  She is grateful to have been a part of the Dvorak river family for so long and to have learned so much from them.  

     As a small company Apakoa Rivers is looking forward to offering unique trips with wonderful guides.   We all love running wilderness rivers – for the peace, the great people, the beauty, the challenge and so much more.  We are so excited to take you on our river trips!
